Williams hope to come up stronger in 2012 Japanese Grand Prix ? Formula 1 news

Williams? chief operations engineer, Mark Gillan has said that they are hoping to come up stronger in the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix after facing difficulties in the Singapore GP.

Pastor Maldonado of the Grove based team showed an incredible pace in the qualifying of the preceding race held at Marina Bay Street Circuit and secured the second grid slot. However, he could not convert his competitive grid position into a podium finish as he faced a hydraulic issue in his car due to which he was retired. On the other hand, his teammate, Bruno Senna also faced some technical problems and was retired in the last race.

Nevertheless, Gillan has recently said that they are not feeling upset over their drivers? retirement in the previous race and are positively looking forward to attain some crucial points in the forthcoming race. Moreover, he said that they are planning to launch some essential updates in their car in the approaching race which will definitely enhance its pace.

?Following Singapore we have been working hard to ensure that the cars run as reliably as possible for the remaining races,? he said. ?Given the excellent pace shown at Singapore in both qualifying and the race, we expect to be strong in Suzuka and will bring further updates as part of our continuous improvement process.?

Furthermore, Senna said that after retiring in the last race, he is aiming to show up stronger at Suzuka this weekend which is one of his favourite circuits of the season. He also said that the track of the upcoming race is very challenging as it has very fast corners and it provides no chance for errors.

?It's one of my favourite tracks of the season and it's very fast and flowing but quite narrow compared to some of the other circuits we visit,? said Senna. ?It feels amazingly quick and is one of the biggest challenges as a driver.?

Presently, the British team is standing at 8th position in the constructors? championship with 54 points. Besides, they are ahead of Toro Rosso and are behind their main rival, Force India.

Let?s see how they perform in the remainder of the season.
