With December already half over, the holiday season is well under way, and many area shelter pets are spending the festive days stuck in a shelter.

Scroll down to check out photos of local rescue cats and dogs that are currently available to be adopted at a number of area shelters. With a cold winter ahead, these pets are lucky to be off the streets -- but they still need a family to call their own. To our knowledge, they've all been spayed or neutered and are up to date with their vaccinations.
